Upcoming site log format changes

Please be notified that following a decision taken by the IGS in consultation with regional GNSS networks, there will be some changes to the site log format :

  1. Adoption of the 9-character station identifiers in site log file names (currently already in use in M3G) and inside section 1 of the site log:
Four Character ID        : (A4)        --> Nine Character ID        : (A9)
Four Character ID : BRUX --> Nine Character ID : BRUX00BEL
  1. Substitution of “Country” with “Country or Region” in section 2 of the site log. The current value of this field will also be replaced by its corresponding alphabetical three-character (Alpha-3) ISO-3166 country/region code.
Country                  :             --> Country or Region        : (A3)
Country : Belgium --> Country or Region : BEL

All changes are documented in https://epncb.oma.be/pub/station/general/blank_v2.0.txt and https://epncb.oma.be/pub/station/general/sitelog_instr_v2.0.txt.

In practice, as a first step, from June 5, 2024

In a second step, at a date still to be determined

  • We will move the /log_9char directory to the current /log directory on M3G.
  • How (and if) these site log changes will affect the GeodesyML format has not yet been decided by the IGS. As soon as a decision has been made, we will inform you.

If you have any questions or requests, do not hesitate to contact m3g(/at/)oma.be.
